Mission
Speak Through Spelling’s mission is to support non-speaking , unreliably speaking individuals and those with communication challenges in accessing communication through spelling and typing. We center dignity, belief in competence, and respectful communication practices so that individuals have a reliable way to express their thoughts, needs, and ideas.
What We Do
At Speak Through Spelling, we provide support and guidance for non-speaking, unreliably speaking individuals and those with communication challenges to access communication via spelling and typing. We create tools, methods and structured practices that center dignity, respect and autonomy.

Founders’ Experience
Before SpeakThrough Spelling was established, our son struggled to express himself, which affected his confidence and social interactions. Through the development of SpeakThrough Spelling, we learned how communication could unfold in meaningful, respectful ways—first through spelling and now progressing toward typing.
Over time, he gained true autonomy in communication, confidently spelling words and sentences to express his thoughts, emotions, needs, and ideas. Each day, we continue learning and growing together, guided by empathy, hard work, and dedication
This journey has profoundly strengthened his communication and social skills and affirmed what is possible when a person is given the tools to be heard. SpeakThrough Spelling exists because this progress is real—and because autonomy in communication has changed his life.

Who We Serve
We serve non-speaking, unreliably speaking and those with communication challenges of all ages. As well as their families, caregivers, educators and support teams.
Why It Matters
Communication is a human right. Too many non-speaking individuals are denied autonomy, choice and voice simply because they do not communicate through speech. Spelling-based communication offers a powerful way for individuals to express thoughts, needs, ideas, and identity.

the Founders
Speak Through Spelling was founded out of lived experience and a deep commitment to communication access and dignity for the non-speaking community. The work is grounded in respect, belief in competence, and the understanding that everyone deserves a reliable way to be heard.
MzGigi and Gary are the founders of Speak Through Spelling, a communication-centered initiative grounded in dignity, access and respect for non-speaking, unreliably speaking and those with communication challenges.
